A majority of voters chose a president whose platform was change. Change happens from the bottom up (beginning—but not ending—with a vote), not just the top down. We will have to change our behavior, change our choices. We can choose to make these changes with an attitude of participation, with a hope that we can and will do our part.
Translating "Yes We Can" to the details of our daily lives begins with knowledge and intention. To operationalize, to institutionalize the changes each of us can make, I offer some first steps for the journey toward creating the world you want. These ideas are suggestions that follow an acceptance of Ghandi's admonition to "be the change you wish to see in the world." Please copy these, add to them, pass them to others (family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, your local, state and national leaders, bridge or bingo or sports or church associates) as points of discussion and action.
The information and logo on the right offers an easy way to lend a computational hand to various projects in service of centripetal values. The World Community Grid is a platform that allows anyone with a computer to offer computer time to help solve the problems listed. Click on the logo to learn more. Another computer based problem solving resource is the Folding at Home project at Stanford University, a 3rd is the BOINC resource at Berkeley. A few clicks and you can lend your computer's shoulder to the wheel of any number of projects you choose. Centripetus has 6 computers running 24/7; 2 are working on better rice at the World Community Grid and 4 are trying to eliminate Alzheimers and ALS at Stanford.
